To those of you unfamiliar with the world of fanfiction, an explanation. Fan fiction is fiction based loosely or rigidly on the world of HP. There's something for everyone out there, from Draco/Hermione to Luna/Neville.
Rules:
Each Ship will have a thread. Ex: Ron/Hermione. If you have a story, know of a story, have read a story that you think other people would enjoy post in that thread using the following format. Linkage to NC17 stories is not allowed.
Title:
Author:
Genre:
Rating:
Other Pairings:
Summary:
Link:
If you'd like to start a new ship thread post at the bottom of this one. Also, if you'd like to discuss a story please contact me first.
A few terms to get you started:
AU-- Alternate Universe, means that at some point it divulges from the HP books and carries on on its own path. Note: 6th book stories are not AU's.
Canon-- Canon is what actually happens in the books, basically facts.
Fanon-- Fanon is character personalites/traits/relations whatnot formed by the fans. For example the entire personality of Blaise Zabini was created in Fanon before the 6th book came out.
OC-- OC is Other Character. Sometimes this refers to a charactor from another book, but more often from someone the author makes up.
OOC-- This refers to when a character is Out of Character. For example:
Hermione is very OOC when she slaps Draco in the third book.
Mary Sue/Gary Stu-- These are the people you want to avoid. They tend to be OC's and usually appear in lower class stories. They're charactors without flaws, unbelievable in that they some how manage to be completely perfect.
Het: Het refers to a boy/girl pairing.
Slash: Refers to a boy/boy pairing
FemmeSlash: Refers to a girl/girl pairing
Where to start. If you're new to the world of fanfiction here's a few sites to check out.
--- www.fictionalley.org :
Fictionalley has the largest collection of HP stories online. It is basically the master site from which everything else branches off. Also on Fictionalley are discussion threads, art forums, and almost everything you can think of.
--- www.fanfiction.net
Fanfiction.net's HP section is not quite as extensive as fictionalleys and tends to be for those who don't feel like going through the hastle of posting at fictionalley.
Enjoy,
Anya
